You are invited to attendan important working luncheon with Dr. Hryhoriy Nemyria, Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and International Integration, on Friday, April 24th from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The luncheon, sponsored by the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), will be held at The Historic George Town Club, 1530 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W., in Washington, D.C. 

Attendanceis by invitation only and is limited to USUBC members and selected guests such as yourself.  We apologize for the very, very late invitation but just received the necessary contact information.

USUBC is very pleased tohave the opportunity to host VPM Hryhoriy Nemyria for the first time in Washington, D.C.  USUBC hosted VPM Nemyria in Kyiv at a large USUBC meetingin January of 2008, soon after he joined the new government of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in December of 2007
as Vice-Prime Minister.

VPM Nemyriais widely known as one of the most important, progressive and effective top officials in the government of Ukraine. Nemyria is in Washington as the head of the Ukraine delegation attending the World Bank/IMF meetings. 

I met with VPMNemyria in Kyiv on Monday, April 13th, about the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) issue.  Nemyria personally leads the effort to resolve the OPIC issue and assists on other matters of keen interest to USUBC members. He has worked closely with USUBC on several issues.  
Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Oleh Shamshur, will attend the luncheon. VPM Nemyria's presentation will be in English.

VPM Nemyria has had an outstanding career. He has been the Founder and Director of the Centre for Political Studies (CPS); Associate Professor, Department of Political Science at Donetsk State University; Vice-Rector and Dean of the Graduate School at the National University of Kyiv’s Mohyla Academy; Chairman of the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF); Coordinator at Kyiv Political-Economic and Security Task Force, American-Ukrainian Advisory Committee (AUAC); Foreign Policy Advisor to Yulia Tymoshenko, when she served before as Ukraine’s Prime Minister; Coordinator for the NATO Forum on Energy Security (Prague, 2006); Member of Ukrainian Parliament; and Deputy Head of the Permanent Parliamentary Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). (See VPM Nemyria's complete biography below)

Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and International Integration.

Education and Academic Background:
1982 –           MA in History from Donetsk State University.
1988 –           PhD from Kyiv Taras Shevchenko University.
1992-1995 – Research Fellow, Department of Social Problems of National Security, Institute of Sociology, Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.
1994 – National Forum Foundation Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Washington, D.C. Since 1994 – Adjunct Fellow.
1997 September – American Political Science Association International Fellow, Washington D.C.
1998 January-February – visiting Professor at the Institute for Political Studies in Bordeaux, France.
Since 1999 – visiting Lecturer at the NATO Defence College in Rome. Diploma, International Relations Summer School, Oxford.
          University and Central European University, Prague, Czech Republic (July – August 1992).
          A graduate of the Harvard Ukrainian National Security Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Work Experience and Political Life:

2006-2007 – Member of Parliament. Deputy Head of the Permanent Parliamentary Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the Ukrainian delegation to the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.
2007 – Present – Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and International Integration.
