Welcome to the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council

RE:  USUBC ANNUAL MEETING & LUNCHEON REGISTRATION
        Thu, Dec 17, 2009, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Wash, D.C. followed by working lunch & panel presentation on Ukraine's current financial, business and political situation, with: Anders Aslund, Peterson Institute; Christopher Smart, US Treasury, Brian Sant Angelo, Export-Import Bank of the U.S.; and Dan Russell, U.S. State Department

The annual meeting of the members of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) will be held in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, December 17th, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a working luncheon with presentations and discussion by four panelists on the current financial, business and political situation in Ukraine.  The USUBC business meeting, luncheon and panel presentation will be over by 2:00 p.m.

The USUBC annual meeting will be held at The Metropolitan Club of the City of Washington, 700 H. Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.  There is no charge for the USUBC annual meeting luncheon.  It is possible to attend only the luncheon.  

EXPERT PANELISTS: ASLUND, SMART, SANT ANGELO AND RUSSELL 
Four key panelists have confirmed their participation at the luncheon.  They are: 

[1] Dr. Anders Aslund, Senior Fellow, Peterson Institute; 
[2] Christopher Smart, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia, U.S. Treasury Department;
[3] Brian Sant Angelo, International Business Development, Europe & Central Asia, Export-Import Bank of the United States; and
[4] Dan Russell, Deputy Assistant Secretary, European and Eurasian Affairs, U.S. Department of State. 

The panel presentations will be most interesting and timely. Anders Aslund was working in Ukraine last week and will present the latest info from Kyiv.  Christopher Smart heads up an area at the U.S. Treasury with major focus on Ukraine. Brian Sant Angelo has worked the Ukraine scene for US EXIM for several years. Ukraine falls within the region covered by Dan Russell and he has responsibility for the Ukraine desk at the State Department.

TWELVE NEW MEMBERS
Twelve new members of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) will be introduced at the annual meeting.  They include: Amity Technology; Chevron; Eli Lilly & Company; Eurasia Business Consultancy; Foundation for International Arts & Education; InterContinental Kyiv; Kyiv Global, Louis Dreyfus Commodities; PetRus USA; Providence Equity; Raytheon; and the United Coal Company/System Capital Management (SCM). 

Each USUBC member has one vote at the annual meeting.  Members who are not able to have their board member or another designated representative at the meeting will be able to vote by proxy.  Members are encouraged to be represented at the annual meeting. USUBC members can send several persons to the annual meeting and the annual meeting luncheon.
