WASHINGTON, D.C. ---- GlobalLogic is a full-lifecycle product development services provider that partners with technology and services companies across the globe to develop amazing software products. With over 2,500 people located in engineering centers across Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Mykolaiv, Ukraine is GlobalLogic’s, second largest global presence, with 35% of its business being conducted in Ukraine, www.GlobalLogic.com.
SUPERIOR TALENT AND INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS
Ukraine has become a hub for software development due to its strong focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills. Ukraine is a Top 3 European nation for IT talent, with over $2B in IT services being exported in 2014 alone. There are currently around 100,000 IT professionals in the country, and analysts forecast that this number will more than double by 2020.

With a reputation for excellence in embedded, telecom, media, and medical technologies, Ukraine is an attractive destination for customers to execute leading-edge project work and set up dedicated engineering labs.
GlobalLogic first began operating in Ukraine in 2002 and has quickly grown to be one of the country’s top employers for technology talent. Over the years, GlobalLogic Ukraine has collaborated with over 500 customers on thousands of products: from Hollywood’s leading audio and video software products to the world’s most dependable medical devices.
Avid and BMC are two examples of such customers who have put down roots in Ukraine, with their local GlobalLogic teams being responsible for the development, testing, deployment, and support of entire product lines. “We couldn’t innovate as quickly as we do without our GlobalLogic engineers,” says Chris Gahagan, Avid’s former senior vice president of products and services. “We consider their contributions as valuable as any Avid employee.”
Ukraine’s greatest strength is in its people, and GlobalLogic is embedded in the local communities surrounding its four engineering centers.
Great talent starts with great education, which is why GlobalLogic partners with technical universities to offer 3rd through 5th year students with complimentary IT prep courses. During the three-month “BaseCamp” program, university professors provide students with technology theory while GlobalLogic representatives offer hands-on training and real-life case studies.
At the end of the program, students have an opportunity to be tested on the material and interview for an internship at GlobalLogic. Every year, about 200 university students (both graduates of the BaseCamp program and GlobalLogic’s internal training center) join the company.

The company also frequently hosts “TechTalks” to introduce interested-minded people to new trends and technologies, and it allows various developer clubs to use its facilities for meetups and other events. GlobalLogic’s “Hackathons” are especially popular in Ukraine, as they enable participants from all backgrounds and experience levels to collaborate on new ideas and test out new technologies.
Furthermore, the company organizes meet-and-greet seminars with some of its high-profile customers such as LinkedIn and BMC to provide attendees with real insights behind some of the world’s largest enterprises. These events provide local developers with unique opportunities to expand both their skills and their horizons.
As a company whose goal is to help its customers innovate, GlobalLogic invests heavily in the ongoing education of its people. The company employs a dedicated Learning & Development department to organize technical and soft skill workshops, and its online training portal provides engineers with the latest resources for a more flexible, self-learning model.
Engineers are also encouraged to leverage company facilities and resources to launch innovative ideas of their own. For example, in 2015, two teams of GlobalLogic Ukraine engineers won prizes in Intel’s RealSense App Challenge for developing unique applications for the company’s new 3D gesture camera.
GlobalLogic also organizes frequent proof-of-concept competitions that have resulted in real-life applications within the company itself, such as a smart coffee brewing system and a work schedule tracking application.
In addition to being nominated as an ideal employer by university students and IT professionals, GlobalLogic is also recognized as a leader in work-life balance. The company offers flexible work schedules and has generous leave policies to ensure that people are able to fulfill their personal obligations as well as their work responsibilities.

Ukraine has been part of GlobalLogic’s story almost since its very inception, and GlobalLogic remains committed to continued growth in Ukraine. The company enjoys strong brand recognition in the country as both an employer and an innovator, and will continue investing in education and IT industry promotion to fuel long-term job creation.
