On June 11, 2013 the New York office of the international law firm Chadbourne & Parke LLP hosted the International Investment Forum & Road Show "Invest in Ukraine: Revealing the Potential", organized by the A7 Group and the Center for US-Ukrainian Relations. The event was focused on the development and improvement of the investment market in Ukraine and gathered representatives of Ukrainian governmental authorities and executives of Ukrainian and US companies.

Adam Mycyk, an International Partner based in Chadbourne's Kyiv office, participated in a panel discussion entitled "Legal and Transactional Nuances in Investing to Ukraine". Adam spoke about the importance of carrying out a compliance due diligence as part of M&A deals in Ukraine. In particular, he focused on possible risks arising from enforcement of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the UK Bribery Act as well as recent Ukrainian anti-corruption laws. He also explained typical red flags that investors should bear in mind when buying companies or assets in Ukraine. Finally, Adam briefed the audience about the benefits of compliance due diligence and its impact on the overall progress of a transaction. Adam stressed the importance of beginning a compliance due diligence early in the transaction process, as negative findings may often prevent a deal from proceeding.
