KYIV - Ukraine has enormous potential for attracting foreign direct investments if it manages to set relations of mutual trust and efficiency between business and the government – this was a key message of the inaugural event of the Citi Thought Club presided over by Citi Country Officer of Ukraine, Steven Fisher.

The first meeting of the Thought Club, whose members are exclusively Citi’s corporate clients, was dedicated to the topic of reforming the regulatory environment to the benefit of foreign and domestic investors, and took place on November 18th, 2010 at the Monaco Restaurant.

The event united CEOs and CFOs of some of the largest and most influential multinational and domestic corporations operating in Ukraine.

The meeting was opened by Igor Burakovsky, Director of the Institute of Economic Research and Political Consulting in Kiev, who shared his mid-term economic forecasts and ideas on the development of the country’s regulatory policies, which was followed by a thought provoking discussion between the key-note speaker, Citi experts and the distinguished guests on why the level of foreign direct investment in Ukraine is insufficient.

The Citi Thought Club has been established as a platform for high level interaction between thought and market leaders, interested in sharing their insights into Ukraine’s economic potential and business opportunities.
