DLA Piper in Ukraine has advised Italian chocolate maker, Ferrero, on obtaining merger control clearance from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, for its USD 2.8 billion acquisition of Nestle's U.S. confectionary business.

Through the deal, Ferrero has acquired three confectionary manufacturing facilities located in the USA with over 1500 employees, and trademark rights for 20 brands. Having completed the deal, Ferrero became the third-largest chocolate company in the USA.

The DLA Piper team was led by DLA Piper's Head of Competition in Kyiv, Galyna Zagorodniuk, assisted by Corporate associates Andrii Zhupanyn and Danylo Rudyk.
