Marynovych Marynovych, former dissident and current vice rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), will be awarded the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom on June 11. The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation will present the award in Washington, D.C.
Past recipients include Pope John Paul II, Vaclav Havel, Elena Bonner, Lech Walesa, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Rep. Tom Lantos, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, and other champions of liberty.
According to the award letter: “[Marynovych’s] life’s work exemplifies the spirit of U.S. Presidents Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan, who worked tirelessly to ensure that Communist tyranny would not permanently enslave those nations held captive by the Soviet Union.”
