I wanted you to be amongst the first to know that the official programme has been published for the 3rd annual Adam Smith Ukrainian Energy Forum, which is taking place from 27th February - 1st March 2012 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Kyiv.

We are honoured to announce that Yuri Boyko, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, and Mykola Zlochevskiy, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, have both given their official support for the forum and confirmed their intention to speak. Indeed, once again the Ministry of Energy & Coal Industry will be a co-organiser of the event. Each of these key officials has recognised that the forum provides a unique platform for dialogue between the government and the energy community.

The Ministers will be joined on the 50-strong speaker faculty by the heads of a host of state companies and agencies, including: the Rada Fuel and Energy Committee, Naftogaz, NERC, State Geological Service, NAK ECU, Energorinok, Ukrgazvidobuvannya and the State Agency for National Projects.

  • We welcome back our authoritative group of international energy commentators and experts, including Tatiana Mitrova, Mikhail Korchemkin, Oleksandr Todiychuk, Simon Pirani, Alan Riley and Burzu Aliyev.

  • A 1-day workshop on the Fundamentals of the Shale Gas Industry on 27th February, run by Nick Grealy, the influential shale gas commentator, who will outline how the emergence of this energy source can impact Ukraine;
