Smithsonian Institution special invitation to Ukraine
The U.S.Smithsonian Institution has invited Ukraine to be a major participant in their annual Folklife Festival held every July on the Mall in Washington.  Ukraine has been invited to participate, for the first time ever, in the summer of 2014, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko.  An official letter of invitation was sent by the U.S. Smithsonian Institution to the President of Ukraine one year ago.

Ukraine has not yet officially responded yes to the invitation from the Smithsonian so the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) and its over 150 members, a major sponsor, are working with several organizationsto build up support in Ukraine for Ukraine to say yes to this very important invitation.  Over one-million visitors go to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival each year and there are also TV shows, CD's, videos and other items produced that would promote Ukraine.

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival Exhibition will be open in Kyiv at the Honchar Museumfrom Thursday, March 31st through Friday, April 18th, 2011.
