Ukrainian Ambassador Olexander Motsyk presented the Order “For Merits” of the III Degree
Embassy of Ukraine to the USA
WASHINGTON, D.C. - On November 12th, 2010 the Embassy of Ukraine to the USA hosted a ceremony of a presentation with the order “For Merits” of the III degree to Mr. Orest Deychakiwsky, Policy Advisor at the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (the Helsinki Commission) in Washington, D.C..
Orest was civil and dissidents’ rights activist during Soviet times and served as an international elections observer in every presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine.
On numerous occasions he contributed to drafting Congressional resolutions and statements on Ukraine, including those related to human rights and democracy issues, Chornobyl, and the Holodomor. Orest Deychakiwsky organized many briefings and hearings on Ukraine that have been held in the U.S. Congress by the U.S. Helsinki Commission.
USUBC FOOTNOTE: The U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) and its over 145 members congratulates Orest Deychakiwsky on his receiving this high award from the Government of Ukraine. Orest has been a tireless worker on behalf of Ukraine for many long years. He is certainly deserving of this award and has earned such an award many times over.
