KYIV - Eurasia Foundation's Kyiv Regional Office will launch a new Kyiv- based foundation, the East Europe Foundation with a reception and formal opening ceremony on November 29 at the Suzir'ja Theater.

The new foundation, which will mobilize public and private resources for community, social and economic development, plans to start operations on January 1, 2008.

Eurasia Foundation is the sole founder of the new institution, which will be supported by more than a dozen donor organizations.

"I am delighted to be a part of this new foundation," said EEF trustee Natalie Jaresko, who is Managing Partner of Horizon Capital.

"The management and staff have a breadth of experience and knowledge of the region that are unparalleled.  I am certain this extensive expertise will be leveraged to the benefit of the foundation's programs and partners."

EEF expects to focus on six program areas in its first year, including the promotion of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), local economic development, sustainable solutions for vulnerable groups, municipal partnerships, business and economics education, and building the capacity to govern justly and fairly.

Wilson also noted that the foundation will maintain an "open door,"
encouraging local non-profit organizations to submit innovative ideas to the foundation during the year.

"The programs build on the work Eurasia Foundation has done in Ukraine during the past 14 years," said Andy Wilson, President of the East Europe Foundation. "Our initiatives will continue to focus on building local institutions and strengthening communities at the grass-roots level.

We also plan to keep working closely with local government officials, which have been extremely supportive of the foundation's programs, particularly in the regions of Ukraine."
