The Law on Moratorium Extension on Agricultural Lands Transfer Came into Force

On 9 December 2015 the Law “On Amendments to Section X "Transitional Rules" of the Land Code of Ukraine Regarding Moratorium Extension on Agricultural Lands Transfer” (hereinafter – the “Law”*) came into force.

In particular, this Law provides for:

• prolongation of the moratorium on agricultural lands transfer for another year - until 1 January 2017;
• sets the requirement for the Government of Ukraine to introduce to the Parliament a draft law on agricultural land transfer before 1 March 2016.

The extension means that agricultural land sale contracts, agricultural land contributions to charter capital and other means of agricultural land transfer (with certain exceptions; e.g. inheritance and barter) are forbidden by law.
