Sergiy Gryshko, coordinator of the dispute resolution practice at CMS Cameron McKenna in Kyiv was invited to serve as an arbitrator in the international student competition ICC Lex Mercatoria on 23-26 November in Minsk, Belarus.

The competition was devoted to international trade law and international commercial arbitration. The student teams were asked to resolve cases prepared by the ICC International Court of Arbitration, to be held under the ICC Rules of Arbitration and taking into account the court’s practice.

During this competition Sergiy coached young lawyers on using the ICC Rules of Arbitration. The ICC Lex Mercatoria competition was organised by the Law Faculty of the Belarusian State University, the ICC International Court of Arbitration (Paris), the International Court of Arbitration at the BCCI, the Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Belarus, the Russian National Committee of the ICC (ICC Russia) and others.

Sergiy commented: “I am delighted to have participated in this competition, which I am sure proved a memorable and useful experience for our future advocates”.

Earlier this year, Sergiy was recognised as a “notable practitioner” in international arbitration by the latest Ukrainian Law Firms 2012 and by the 50 leading law firms of Ukraine. Sergiy has acted in a number of arbitrations conducted under ICAC, SCC, ICC and ICSID rules and also has extensive experience of acting for clients at all levels and branches of the Ukrainian judiciary.
