NIBULON, a leader in the Ukrainian agrarian market, has invested USD 23 million in the construction of its new transshipment terminal in Marianske village (Apostolove district, Dnipropetrovsk region). It is tenth transshipment terminal located on the Dnipro Cascade and the first one in this region. The company constructed the terminal within three months, complying with all the safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

NIBULON has managed to create 1,500 working places for the builders from 73 various companies within Ukraine and to overcome all the obstacles to receive equipment which was produced and delivered to Ukraine by world leading manufacturers from Italy, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, and other countries. The official opening of the Zelenodolska branch terminal was held on June 12.

The terminal’s simultaneous storage capacity is 76 thousand tons (up to 300 thousand tons annually, thereby enabling the company to remove more than 12.5 thousand trucks from the regional highways). Above 100 persons will be employed at the facility. It is a completely automated agrarian facility to receive, store, and to process agricultural commodities. In addition to investing in the terminal, NIBULON invests UAH 11 million in the village social infrastructure solve an urgent water supply system in compliance with the social partnership agreement. The company will illuminate streets, arrange comfortable sidewalks, and create a modern park for the local villagers. It addition, the community budget will receive UAH 5 million receipts annually.

The company will dredge more than 8 ha of water area and 14 km of the water access to the water area from the Dnipro navigable pass.

The Minister of Infrastructure, Vladyslav Krykliy, the Chairman of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Bondarenko, the Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Sviatoslav Oliynyk, representatives from the local authorities, and contractors participated in the event.

According to Vladyslav Krykliy, NIBULON demonstrates a unique example when the company has been implementing its project to revive navigation and cargo transportation along the Ukrainian rivers for more than 10 years without the state support. “Hero of Ukraine Oleksiy Vadaturskyy proves again that coronavirus can cause not only challenges and problems but also can create possibilities.  We were informed that this facility was constructed within three months. I can hardly imagine how much effort and work coordination were required to implement this project”, said Krykliy. According to him, the ministry and government will do everything to promote the construction of such facilities in Ukraine.

The Chairman of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Bondarenko, stressed that NIBULON complied with all three key priorities to attract investments in the region, namely economy, infrastructure, and ecology. “This is an environmental project. By reducing traffic load on highways and redirecting cargo transportation to water, the company reduces emissions into the air. This project will increase an export potential in the region, thereby ensuring the economy stable development. We thank NIBULON for this project”, said O. Bondarenko. According to him, the region will create the appropriate conditions for NIBULON to construct not less than 4 terminals there.

The Regional Council Head, Sviatoslav Oliynyk, added that the local authorities thanked NIBULON for its social projects. “In addition to working places, NIBULON will develop the infrastructure. We thank the company for this. It is a unique example of cooperation between society and business when everyone enjoys the result”, stressed S. Oliynyk.

The mayor of the Zelenodolska United Territorial Community, Andriy Savchenko, mentioned that this success is a result of constant work performed by Zelenodolska community to attract investments. He hoped that the new high-capacity facility would promote the development of the agrarian business, and the agrarians will have new opportunities.

NIBULON’s General Director, Hero of Ukraine, Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, mentioned that the company had been planning to implement this project for 12 years, but the local authorities were not interested in it. According to him, the very local agrarians need this terminal.

“I think that we will organize an efficient logistics in this region. We will do everything so that the agrarian sector has a facility to store grain. We will help you to become exporters and entities in the foreign economic relations. You will become the world maket players without intermediaries. We are ready to organize currency contracts for you, thereby ensuring additional activities and profit. We will make a positive stress”, he stressed.

“NIBULON is like a guide for agricultural producers, a translator from foreign language into Ukrainian for business in the grain market. They will be able to communicate and export grain to any entities in Egypt, Indonesia, China, and others. They will have prospects; the world will be open for them. NIBULON is like a gateway to the trade world”, added O. Vadaturskyy.

According to him, the company, despite a complicated epidemiological situation, managed to continue constructing the facility, ensuring safety measures for its contractors (from 600 to 1,500 builders daily). In addition, the equipment suppliers from Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, China also worked in special conditions.

“It was difficult, but we did it. In addition, NIBULON repaired the Mykolaiv Regional Infectious Hospital. NIBULON consisting of 7,000 employees worked despite these difficult times. I want to say that nobody has been infected”, stressed O. Vadaturskyy.

“Civilization appears where NIBULON operates. NIBULON pays taxes transparently and honestly. More than 100 persons will work there at the facility, and the local budget will receive about UAH 5. It is a considerable assistance to the local authorities”, added NIBULON’s General Director.

Since 2009, NIBULON has been efficiently implementing its large-scale investment program to revive shipbuilding sector, develop navigation on the Ukrainian inland waterways, and to construct a network of the transshipment terminals within Ukraine.

The construction of the river transshipment terminal in Marianske village was supported by NIBULON’s reliable international financial partners, namely the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, and the International Finance Corporation.

At the same time, one of the key obstacles preventing the river sector development is the absence of a unified approach to reform the river transportation system which would be stated in the specific legislation. During the official opening of NIBULON’s transshipment terminal, the Minister of Infrastructure, Vladyslav Krykliy, promised that there will be introduced a draft law on the inland water transportation which will allow investors the state support. He is sure that the market participants and law makers will find the common denominator to promote the development of transportation and the increase in sector financing.
