Astarta continues to invest in the modernisation and development of production infrastructure.
In particular, in 2022 Astarta starts implementing a project to build Ukraine's largest bulk sugar storage facility with a total capacity of 60kt at the Narkevytsky Sugar Plant. The planned investment is c. USD14.6m.
Unique for Ukraine, technological solutions under the project will create optimal conditions for long-term storage of sugar and preservation of its original quality. In particular, German-designed plate of the silo will significantly reduce sugar residues after unloading the tank.
The commissioning of the facility is scheduled for July 2023.
- In Europe such warehouses are common but in Ukraine there is a shortage of them. Therefore, Astarta, as a socially responsible company focused on maximum protection of the interests of its consumers and to ensure food security in Ukraine, invests significant funds in the development of the sugar industry. Such a warehouse will also allow optimising logistics costs, maintaining the high quality of the Company's products and selling it in alternative packaging, - said Vyacheslav Uzhva, the Director of Astarta's Sugar Production Department.
For reference
In 2021, Astarta produced 340kt of sugar from sugar beet and imported raw cane sugar. The Company's sugar plants are located in the Poltava, Vinnytsia and Khmelnytsky regions (Ukraine).
