On October 27, 2021 Kherson Oblast State Administration hosted a seminar on contemporary technologies in the construction and refurbishing of hydraulic structures for coastal areas which was co-organized with the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC, www.usubc.org) and Uniprom LLC, a USUBC member company.

The event was opened by Mr. Mykola Yakymenko, Deputy Head of Kherson Oblast State Administration, and Michael Datsenko, Director, Information & Member Programs, USUBC. The event was attended by the representatives of local executive branch agencies, authorities from the amalgamated territorial communities in Kherson Oblast, education establishments and enterprises, with some joining via internet due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Mink ter Harmsel, Marketing Manager Water & Environment EMEA, TenCate Geosynthetics made the key presentation of the technologies which are available in Ukraine through Uniprom LLC, a partner of TenCate, including those in geosynthetic materials which the company developed over the last 60 years and whicih is employed in over 300 million square meters of projects on all continents. Various civil infrastructure projects like coastal fortifications, artificial islands, land reclamation, transport infrastructure and others with varied technical, ecological, and aesthetic (tourist-related) considerations can benefit from these technologies.

A lively discussion followed the presentation, with technical, financial and other aspects of such projects being discussed, and several of the territorial communities expressed their interest for a visit from Uniprom and TenCate representatives to assess their particular projects.
