DLA Piper Ukraine real estate team has advised food chain Billa on securing a record eight-year lease extension agreement with Kyiv City Council for its flagship store in the Bessarabskyi Market in Kyiv.

Billa opened this strategic store more than ten years ago. Bessarabskyi Market, which was constructed in 1910-1912, is a landmark building in the centre of Kyiv, on the Bessarabska Square.

The DLA Piper team in Kyiv was led by Real Estate partner Natalia Kochergina, who was supported by senior associate Oleg Milchenko and junior associate Yevhen Husakov. The team advised the client on all stages of the transaction: preparing and submitting documents to the Kyiv City Council, representing the client at sessions in the Permanent Commission of Kyiv City Council on Property Matters, negotiations with authorities as well as executing the lease agreement between Billa and the Department of Municipal Property of the Kyiv City Council for the new term.

Oksana Mandziuk, CEO at Billa Ukraine, commented: “The completion of this complex transaction, which was of strategic importance to Billa, is a clear demonstration of Natalia and her team’s ability to deliver high quality and superb service within a short timeframe. We are happy we could rely on the professionalism and strong retail expertise of the DLA Piper real estate team during the whole process”.
