Sayenko Kharenko contributed to recently published “Ukraine IT Report 2021, an all-Ukrainian study of the IT industry. Sayenko Kharenko experts prepared the regulatory section, focusing inter alia on the issues related to the tax system for the IT industry, and the amount of tax revenues from industry. They also highlighted the legal aspects of the special legal framework for the IT industry – Diia City. The study was conducted by the IT Ukraine Association, the country’s largest specialised community of service and product IT companies.

Over the last few years, Ukraine’s IT industry has undergone many changes. In 2021, the IT industry grew by 41,000 engineers and now employs over 285,000 professionals. The study aimed to show what Ukrainian IT looks like today, and why Ukraine is a very promising player in the region as an IT country.

Sayenko Kharenko tax law team working on the report included counsel Vitaliy Odzhykovskyy, senior associate Mykhailo Grynkevych and associate Kostiantyn Nemchenko. Senior associate Oksana Daskaliuk advised on corporate and M&A issues under the strategic supervision of partner Oleksandr Nikolaichyk. Counsel Oleg Klymchuk and associate Ivan Chopyk advised on intellectual property aspects and the conclusion of gig contracts.

The study presentation will take place on 20 January 2022 at 16:00 at UNIT.City. Counsel Vitaliy Odzhykovskyy will speak on the first panel “Ukrainian IT industry in the world—current situation, trends and forecasts”, while partner Oleksandr Nikolaichyk will moderate the second panel “Growth points for Ukrainian IT—education and new markets.”
