DuPont Pioneer Ukraine became the laureate of the program Person of the Year 2014. Company achievements are marked in the category Investment of the Year.
National program Person of the Year was founded in 1995 and provides an annual award of the title Person of the Year in different nominations. Winners of the program are determined by a survey of experts; among them are representatives of governmental, non-governmental, public organizations, unions, associations, foundations and the media. According to the results of the expert survey three leading contenders in each category are the laureates of the program. The final decision is made by the Higher Academic Council.
DuPont Pioneer awarding with the honorary award is a high estimation of the results of investment projects in the agricultural industry of Ukraine.
Thus, in 2009 the company announced a new research center in Lyubartsi, Kyiv region that was openedin 2010 to provide developing and testing of maize, sunflower, winter andspring oilseed rape hybrids suited to the region’s unique environment andagronomic conditions. The investment represented a strategic decision tostrengthen local breeding program by processing more information, running moretrials, leading to increased number of maize, sunflower and oilseed rapeproducts. The new research center is crucial in securing Pioneer’s leadershipin Ukraine and throughout the world as the leading developer of hybrid seeds.
In 2011 Pioneer started construction of a new logistics facility in Stasi, Poltava region. The first phase of the project involved the construction of warehouse and office space, workshops, communications, and the second - ready for operation plant for the production of maize and sunflower seed. Investment in the first phase of the project amounted to about US $10 million.
In November, 2012 the company announced more than 40 million USD investments in the construction of a seed production facility in Stasi. The official opening of the facility was in June, 2013. 40 million USD investments is one of the many investments the company is making to support local product development and help Ukrainian farmers increase their productivity. The production facility including logistics facility employs approximately 70 employees to support the warehousing, timely distribution and production of Pioneer® brand maize and sunflower hybrids. In September, 2014 DuPont Pioneer has invested US $11 million in the construction of the second production corn line.
