May 30-31, 2013, Yalta hosted the 10thAnnual Legal Conference of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA), the mainevent of this organization, which traditionally brings together members of thelegal profession from different regions of Ukraine. This year, more than ahundred participants had the opportunity to discuss current issues of theindustry, mingle with colleagues and friends and elect a new leadership of theAssociation.

 Partner Andriy Stelmashchuk andCounsellor Alexei Sluch represented Vasil Kisil & Partnerslaw firm at this forum, while Counsellor Ivan Yurchenko and Associate IevgenLevitskyi participated in the work of the Assembly.

The first day of the conference was devoted tothe discussion of topical issues of corporate and tax law as well as recentlegislative changes in real estate and construction. After the working sessionsdelegates participated in the traditional presidential reception, during whichthe current President of UBA Valentin Zagariya thanked thegeneral sponsors who supported Association's endeavours throughout the year, inparticular, Vasil Kisil & Partners law firm and presented commemorativecrystals. During the second day of the conference dedicated to the judicialpractice and procedural law review, Mr Stelmashchuk made a presentation, whichhighlighted certain aspects of the invalidity of transactions in the context oftax disputes.

 During the 10th UBA Annual Legal Conference ameeting of UBA’s Legal Assembly, the supreme managerial body of the Association,was held. The main item on the agenda was the election of the new leadership ofthe Ukrainian Bar Association, which is going to determine the policy of theorganization and its development strategy for 2013-2015. Members of the LegalAssembly almost unanimously supported the candidacy of Denis Bugay (Vashchenko,Bugay and Partners) for the post of UBA President. VKP’s representatives werealso elected to the managerial and controlling bodies of UBA: Mr Stelmashchuk becameMember of the Governing Board, Mr Sluch – Member of UBA’s Audit Committee andMr Levitskyi – Member of the Electoral Commission.
