MILITARY TRAINING REFORM

Join us for a compelling discussion both online and in-person (over capacity now) at the Army Navy Club in Washington, D.C.
Organized by the Ukrainian Freedom Fund with the support of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), this event explores the crucial steps Ukraine needs to take to enhance its offensive capabilities, focusing on training, equipment, and operations.
Online registration for Zoom viewing is open to all. Please adhere to the Army and Navy Club's dress code: coat and tie for gentlemen, commensurate business attire for ladies.
WASHINGTON, D.C: You are invited to an in-person (currently over capacity) and online panel presentation on Wed, Jan 10, 2024, 5 pm in Washington, to discuss the state of Ukraine’s military training and resource initiatives underway to bring Ukraine’s military to a level which can interoperate with NATO forces as well as perform tactical and operational maneuvers necessary to remove Russian forces from occupied territories.
Members on the panel have all been involved in high level discussions with Ukraine's Ministry of Defense in the last six months regarding reform, training and resource provision.
Ukrainian Freedom Fund is raising $275,000 to enable training of 12 courses at key Ukrainian Military Academies in 2024. This will include the travel, housing and per diem of 25 retired US and UK military officers qualified to instruct on leadership development.
This project will serve as a basis for expansion of training, with focus on training Ukrainian officers to be able to conduct training for quicker scaling of training.

General Mullen spent 10 days in December meeting with senior Ukrainian leadership in training at the Odessa and Lviv Military Academies as well as leaders within the Training divisions of the MOD and Ukraine’s general staff.
Captain Ryzhenko and LtCol Gibson conducted a 3 week pilot course in October with Marine and Infantry cadets in Odessa.
Eric Green has been meeting repeatedly with senior Ukrainian defense officials during the last 5 months discussing ongoing reforms and activities.
Colonel Mykhailo Pinkevich leads the directorate of training within Ukraine's MOD. He is former commander of the Carpathian Sich battalion with whom he served for over a year in the east until wounded.

OVERVIEW
Background:
Ukraine’s leadership lacks sufficient training and experience to execute tactical and operational maneuvers utilizing the full advantage of advanced weapon systems and planning processes. They have the determination and the manpower, but to maneuver on a larger scale as well as fully exploit western equipment, they require a change in military culture to enable quick, coordinated and effective operations on the battlefield. Ukraine’s MOD has engaged UFF to support professional and instructor development to introduce this cultural shift.
Mission:
Through the conduct of professional military development courses to specific audiences, UFF will engender a cultural shift within the Ukrainian Armed Forces which will enable them to operate more effectively at the tactical and operational levels.
Execution:
- Utilizing a cadre of qualified retired officers and senior SNCOs, we will conduct specified courses aimed at building a Ukrainian training cadre across multiple professional military education facilities to facilitate a change in the culture of the Ukrainian military.
- Integrate core issues of culture into all syllabi
- Monitor, adjust and improve training continually
